The book titled A Dream Called Home starts with the essence of the dream that indicates about the artistry of the immigrants and how it gets accomplished in future. First, Grande recalls her stay in Los Angeles and then her transfer to the University of California, Santa Cruz, with dream to get the first position in the class. She stresses in the fact from the beginning that higher education is the way that can accomplish all her dreams in the future. She takes the guidance from Diana and selects UCSC over UCLA. In the UCSC, she is frantically searching for her dreams to get the route. Her dream to build the home gets solidified at each step that after a point she wants to change her identity from an immigrant.
